Touch & Activate UIST 2013
We present a novel acoustic touch sensing technique called Touch & Activate. It recognizes a rich context of touches including grasp on existing objects by attaching only a vibration speaker and a piezo-electric microphone paired as a sensor. It provides easy hardware configuration for prototyping interactive objects that have touch input capability.
Grasp Reocgnition using Active Acoustic Sensing Interaction 2013
We present a simple and low-cost grasp recognition technique using active acoustic sensing. The technique requires a pair of a speaker and a microphone as its equipment for sensing. We conducted an experiment to measure the recognition rate of our technique.
M[you]sic illuminates soundscape of public spaces and utilizes city planning. The M[you]sic system senses information of pedestrians and performs music and sounds based on the illumination program that operator programmed. We expect that interaction between pedestrians and M[you]sic system makes atmosphere of the space. We examined the interactiveness brought by M[you]sic through the demonstration experiment.
